Tuesday 1st - Thursday 3rd

from Uppsala to Cape Town

Five travellers full of expectation just entering the taxi to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport on a rather mild autumn day.

...standing in line at the check-in desk.

...and waiting for the next flight at London Heathrow Airport.

The jumbo jet is waiting for us to board.

Wednesday November the 2nd, at last at the destination, Cape Town, where the landing strip is wet from some morning rain.

On our way to the city in the rental car. Here the right is to keep to the left.

Clouds over Devil's Peak in the background.

A photo from Main Road in Mowbray. The houses are more colourful than back home in grey Sweden.
The picture to the left shows the house on Albert Road where Per lived. The green monster is a sweet-scented jasmine,

Our first lunch in Cape Town at an African restaurant - of course!

A visit to the local supermarket, Shoprite. Lots of vegetables, nice but simple.

We stay at - Carmichael Guesthouse - small, nice and cosy - not far from the UCT campus.

A wonderful garden.

Big rooms with high ceilings.

We stay for some nights while exploring the Cape Town area.

On the right picture you can se the luxurious breakfast room. We all want to come back to this place.

Many of the photos in this album show us sitting at a dinner table. Too many? But for us the food (and the wine) are some of the dearest memories from this journey.

This is from a nice seafood restaurant in Camps Bay. We visited it on Thursday afternoon. On that day we were also in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which of course has its own page. Go there.
